It's been almost a month since Drew and I returned to America after living in China for a year. A dear family friend offered for us to stay for a week in their lovely mountain home. Located about an hour north of Asheville, North Carolina we spent the week adjusting to the 12 hour time difference, catching up on sleep, bonding with our two puppies and spending quality time with each other. There was a big back porch with a gorgeous view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I loved watching the sunrise, snugged up with my two puppies while sipping on a cup of coffee on that deck.
We found a few favorite places that we visited frequently during our stay. One precious little town was Black Mountain. The Dripolator Coffeehouse featured unique coffee and teas with a slew of freshly baked goods to accompany them. My favorite was the London Fog Latte, an Earl Gray Tea with vanilla bean infused milk. Delicious! We spent an afternoon sippy on steamy drinks while getting in the Word. I don't ever want to take advantage of the freedom that we felt that first afternoon of sharing truth with each other openly in a public place. The first few meals that we had where we thanked that Lord for our food before we ate were precious moments as well.
We also visited Kilwin's old fashioned chocolate and icecream shop filled with fudge, truffles, sea salt caramels and peanut brittle. Icecream is my ultimate weakness and along with our waffle cones we took home a pint of their chocolate chip cookie dough.
We drove down to Asheville for a day and visited the famous Tupelo Honey Cafe! It has been on my foodie bucket list for quite some time and I was so excited to try their Southern specialties. I ordered the fried chicked smothered in havarti cheese, bacon and mushroom marsala sauce, paired with fresh asparagus and cheesy cauliflower casserole. Filled my need for southern comfort food to the brim!
Our mountatin vacation was divine and we were so thankful for the ability to go and rest in such a beautiful place. Blessings to you all!
